Book lending
We are a lending library!
Please ignore the ‘Reference Collection’ label on our items in the catalogue. Almost all our materials are available for loan.
To borrow items, you will need a valid library card from the University and City Library of Cologne.
Students at the University of Cologne can obtain their digital ID card via the app. Everyone else can obtain one in person at the University and City Library of Cologne.
The loan period is usually one month. Separate rules apply to members of the institute.
Unfortunately, reservations and renewals are not processed automatically. Please contact us by email, telephone or in person at the Glaskasten.
Rental of audio recording equipment
The Department of Cultural and Social Anthropology has a variety of A/V-equipment at their disposal. Department affiliates and students of the department can borrow the equipment. Instruction is available as needed.
Equipment for simple individual interviews:

Olympus dictating machines
You can borrow this equipment at the Glaskasten during usual office hours.
Audio recorder for more complex recording situations like group interviews, music and atmosphere
